Colonel (Retired) Jim Ervin leverages his deep domain expertise in the USG, including federal research and development agencies and U.S. Congress, to identify USG support for critical technologies. Mr. Ervin’s experience as President of Ervin Technical Associates (ETA), one of the leading defense lobbying firms in Washington, D.C., supports this focus.

Mr. Ervin founded ETA, a legislative and business development firm in Washington, D.C. The firm’s clients include Northrop Grumman Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., General Dynamics, United Defense and numerous small and medium-sized defense firms. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Electro Mechanical Components, Inc. a San Diego, California based manufacturer of magnetic heads for the motion picture, music recording and ATM industry. Mr. Ervin is one of the founders and Members of the Board of the Scranton, PA biotech firm Vital Probes, Inc.

Prior to founding ETA in 1987, Mr. Ervin served 20 years in the United States Air Force. His assignments included international foreign military sales, systems program management, logistics management and legislative affairs. While in the Air Force, Mr. Ervin was involved in two major aircraft system program offices and was also responsible for logistics support functions for aircraft sale in Europe, the Middle East, and South America. For the last half of his career, Mr. Ervin was assigned to various legislative affairs activities. While at the Pentagon, he was an Air Force legislative liaison responsible for weapon systems legislation and was assigned to the House liaison office on Capitol Hill. His final assignment in the Air Force was as Director of House Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Defense working directly with Secretary Caspar Weinberger and, his Senior Military Assistant, General Colin Powell.

Mr. Ervin has a B.S. in business from Ohio State University and an M.S. in logistics management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
